This part of the Caroline County landscape is traditionally known for the presence of Delmarva bays. These shallow ponds appear on agricultural lands throughout the county and in recent years crop production encouraged the draining of these palustrine wetlands. There are 12 seasonal wetland ponds on the property, as well as Cool Springs Branch running through the north side of the farm. The land tract is protected in this conservation easement under WRE perpetually. The environment created by these wetlands provides important habitat to many species of flora and fauna.
